Workshops
The aim of the workshops is to analyze, from an interdisciplinary viewpoint, issues, problems, future perspectives, instruments and policies affecting, in all their complexity, the landscapes in and around polycentric metropolitan regions.
- A. The role of peri-urban agriculture
This workshop will face the multifaceted task of agriculture in metropolitan regions: what is specific about it, as well as the role farmers will play as maintainers of the landscape.
- B.The quest for environmental sustainability
Sustainable development is in the agenda of every metropolitan region, but what can be the contribution of the green areas located in-between to it? And what best practices exist to ensure that?
- C. Landscape cultural identities
The cultural identity of a place is an important added value in the definition the relationship existing between a landscape and its inhabitants. This workshop aims to investigate the role of cultural heritage in the development of metropolitan open areas.
- D. Planning concepts and strategies for metropolitan landscapes
Aim of the workshop is to explore alternative planning concepts for the open green areas in polycentric regions, like for example that of ‘metropolitan park'.
